Hackers Crack MacDonald to Take First Place

October 18, 1999
First place was on the line last Thursday night at the Needham Center when the 1-0 LAN Hackers faced off against the 1-0 Lite-Sabres. Trailing 7-6 entering the third period, the Hackers showed their resolve by potting four early goals to put the game out of reach. The Lite-Sabres poured on the pressure late in the game but Hackers goalie John Dulong was up to the challenge making several big saves.

In the spotlight for the Lite-Sabres was rookie goaltender Ryan MacDonald. MacDonald showed that his brilliant performance in the Lite-Sabres' opening game was no fluke as he posted a save percentage over 80% for the second straight game and kept Hackers star forward John Price off the scoreboard for the first time in league history.

In the nightcap, the 0-1 Keane Fire met the also 0-1 Sunnydale Slayers. Somehow, the two teams managed to remain winless. The final score was 11-11 in the league's first ever draw. The game marked the return to the league for two Slayers superstars who missed the opening game. Tim Farrell led all scorers marking three goals and adding three assists while Don Abbott scored one while assisting on three others.

This week's match-ups feature the Hackers versus the Keane Fire and the Lite-Sabres versus the Sunnydale Slayers.
