Things did not start well for the Chill, as Tony Joyce and Gian Scalet each scored 3 times in the opening period to give the Slayers a 7-3 lead. But the Chill began to hit their stride in the 2nd frame. Andrew’s four goals and Craig’s three rallied the Chill into a 11-11 tie after two. The teams then seesawed the lead back and forth through the early minutes of the third, before Peter Rankin blasted a point shot past 3rd-string Slayer goalie Jason Fitzgerald with just over four minutes left in the game. This opened the floodgates to 4 more Chill goals in a two-minute span, lifting the Chill to only their 2nd win of the season.
Notes: Rankin’s goal came in his first game back after undergoing laser eye surgery. Chill captain David Watson said he is considering requiring all of his defensemen to have the surgery... The Chill are now 2-3 with Craig Mercer in the lineup... Joyce and Andrew Mercer's goals moved them into a 3-way tie with Lynx forward Mark Leblanc for the League lead, at 44.
