Hackers Have Revenge In Store For Slayers

December 14, 2004
Usually when the LAN Hackers play in an ADC FHL final, it is their opposition who is looking for a chance at redemption from a previous beating. But in the case of Thursday’s championship game between the Hackers and the Slayers, it is the Hackers who are seeking revenge.

In a 2003B semi-final game, the Slayers came back from five goals down in the last 4:15 to beat the Hackers in a shoot-out, marking the only occasion that the Hackers have not made an appearance in the championship game. Hacker captain Terry Davison, still bitter from that defeat despite winning last season’s title, says the revenge factor will be enough motivation to put his team over the top. “All year long I’ve been teaching my team how to protect a lead”, explained Davison, “there will be no need for any timeouts this time around!”

The Slayers will likely have no trouble finding their source of inspiration for the final game, as they will be attempting to be the first team other than the Hackers or Lite-Sabres to win the trophy in the illustrious 12-year history of the league. Entering the game, the Slayers boast the top three leading playoff scorers in Tony Joyce, Chad Randell, and captain Gian Scalet.

For Scalet, winning the title would be the culmination of dream that began in early 2003 when he took over the reins of the Slayer franchise. “I don’t want to jinx things, but I’ve flown in family members from all over the world for the game”, began the optimistic captain, “I hope the money given to the winning team will help offset the cost”.

Below is a breakdown of the winnings that each team receives:

1st Place: $0
