Hackers, Sabres on Collision Course

November 22, 1999
If last Thursday's games were any indication, the LAN Hackers could be facing the Lite-Sabres in the league championship for the second straight year.
In Thursday's first game, the Hackers disposed of the Keane Fire 21-6 in a game that was close for most of the first period. The Fire have shown bursts of firepower this year, from big scorers like Sasco, Murphy and Haddad, but can't seem to maintain it over the full three periods.

The LAN Hackers on the other hand, seem to be on cruise control. They have been out the services of rookie sensation Randall Leard for the past three games but have shown no ill effects whatsoever. They become the first team to go undefeated in the regular season. The dynamic duo of John Price and rookie Greg Foran were tops in the league in scoring, and at times appear to be toying with the opposition.

In Thursday's nightcap, the Lite-Sabres pulled no punches against the cellar-dwelling Sunnydale Slayers. Led by league goal scoring champion Steve Chaisson's eight goals, the Sabres pounded the Slayers 21-7. This game marked the triumphant return to goaltending for Richard MacMillan -- last year's number one goalie for the Sabres. MacMillan looked sharp, especially early in the game, when the game was close. When asked about who would be starting in the playoffs for the Sabres, MacMillan laughed and replied "Unless Ryan (MacDonald) loses a limb between now and Thursday, he'll be starting".
