Opening Credits...week 1 at the Bowl

September 12, 2018
Well hello there ladies and germs and a few civil fellows in between!
this is Billy Concarney here and this is your recap of the first night of festivities at the PRCC Fish Bowl.
Its the first night of the new dawn, where the rebirth of an old chapter saw the HFHL start is 2018B season wit the original six teams...minus the old guys and goalie without gear, well almost minus the old guys.
Anyhow, here is what went down this past Monday night.

First up we have the Fire vs the Hackers. The Fire were down their regular goalie who was out of town due to family emergency, but the had the old fat guy Marty The Party Kane jumping in the pipes. The Hackers had a full squad while the Fire were down their first round pick in Gerard "woody" Gouthro, a big loss right off the hop. Rumour had it that he was told to wait at the 7-Eleven by long time travelling buddy, Paul Highmore. well Woody waited, and waited...well you know the rest.
Anyhow, lets see what happened in this one.
The first period saw the fire dominate, namely because it just takes some guys a little while to adjust. The Hackers came hard at Kane, but he turned all the shots away in the first. Meanwhile, the fire called on long time veteran Tom Griffiths to bring the Fire, nd bring it he did. Tom was in on all four gabs in the first and the Fire grabbed an early 4 zip lead.
The Hackers, never hide from anyone though and Copper always picks a dangerous team. The Hackers scored the only goal in the second when Cameron buried a shot past Kane off a feed from Jeff Shute, and some folks are pretty glad to see him and his guns back in the league!
The third saw the Hackers come out fast and furious and they scored two quick goals to get within one. But the Fire took a two gals lead back off a goal by Aaron Brown from a feed by Rob Tyrrell. But a few lack lustre plays gave the Hackers life and they pulled within one. With about 5 seconds left, due to an errant play behind the net, Chris Sampson grabbed the ball and fired two shots on Kane and Matt Power buried the third. Late game heroics ave the Hackers a tie in this one. It was a great game to start the night off with for sure.
Ends all square at 5 a piece.

The next game...well...we aren't sure how to approach this. Lets just say it was a lesson to be learned for many people.
The Sabres were in a hole before the ball dropped. Missing Roger Keating with severe food poisoning and Shane Erb with an undisclosed lower body injury, they had a big hill to climb.
But no one ever expected this hill to amass a total of 20 goals!
We aren't going into to too much detail, but I was a watching' and Im gonna say that the Lynx looked pretty good, but they got some pretty goals that I haven't seen guys score before. Not that I haven't seen pretty goals, but not from these lugs. Guys who never pick corners, picked corners. Guys who would usually fall down if they tried t pull that move, well they pulled that move. Long and sort of it...first three spots in the scoring race belong to the Lynx. James _GA_ was pretty pleased she he stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plumb and said what a good boy am I!
John Tienhaara on the other hand will be ok once he gets his boys back and makes a few changes.
Both line...Lynx win this one 20-1...but beware of Karma...

Last game of the night saw the Slayers facing off against the Chill, formerly the Titans. Cross has a great team on paper, while JD vowed he would not kane anyone under 35...and true to his word, he has a young fast squad.
The game started out pretty even with each team trading gaols in the first, 1-1 after one.
But the second saw the Slayers break out and score 7 goals to the Chills 2. 7-3 after two. the third saw much more f the same as the Slayers grabbed 4 more goals and the Chill seemed t find a bit of stride adding 3 to their totals.
Th slayers win this one 12-6. Chill ned to figure out there back end and the Slayers need to change nothing. They will be a force to reckon with this season.

So thats all she wrote folks. week one is in the books and its too early to make a call. there were under achievers and over achievers and a few in betweens.
All we know is...game on people...game on!
This Billy Concarney saying so long and be well folks!
