First up we have The Chill vs The Lynx. People were wondering whether the lynx were a fluke last week or if they really had all that fire power. The Chill were again without amen but wanted to turn i a valiant effort none the less.
The first period saw the teams battle neck and neck each scoring a goal. 1-1 after 1
The second saw things stay even as they traded goals again and after the second it was 3-3.
the third...well let's just say that was the difference. The Lynx came out and scored 4 quick goals before the Chill could add a couple of their own. This one ended up 7-5 for the Lynx, but they didn't look quite as good as they did the week before. A couple of big boomers from Sean Fitzgerald were the difference in this one.
Next up saw the Slayers facing off against the Fire. The Fire were missing their keeper Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau who was out for personal reasons.
The Slayers had their full squad back again an man do they ever look quick! These guys showed not pity as they came out of the gate scoring6 unanswered goals into the second before the fire's own speedsters, Aaron Brown and Gerard "Woody" Gouthro grabbed two goals to end the period. But too little too late?
The Slayers came out again scoring 4 more to start the third while the Fire added one for the road...and the road is where they belonged! the Fire didn't force Strum to make any heart stopping saves while the Slayers just killed poor Old Kane at the other end.
The Slayers take this one 10-3 and look like they have dibs on early favourites this season.
Last game of the night saw the Sabres, who were trying to get past their whopping loss last week, and the Hackers who came off a fist game tie.
This one was a great game on the score sheet. The Sabres scored first but the Hackers came back with two of their own to take a 2-1 lead into the second. The Sabres never fled though and Mike Gelinas scored early in the second to even it up 2-2.
But Hackers captain Dave Cooper scored the last goal of the period and the Hackers where holding on to a 3-2 lead after two.
The Third was all Hackers as they rattle off 4 unanswered goals an took the back home winning this match up 7-2. It was a better showing for the Sabres and something tells me they will continue to improve.
So thats it this week folks.
Still too early to call placements, but those pesky Slayers are looking pretty goo and the Lynx are a pleasant surprise as well.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and if you feel the nee to win at ay cost...stay home!
Be well folks
