Halifax Floor Hockey LeagueWe are all set for another great season which gets underway this coming Monday at 7:00 with our preseason pick up.
We have a couple of new captains, some rookies and a handful of misfits mixed in with our usual crew for this season.
We want to see you all at the preseason this coming Monday so mark it on your calaendars. Remember, we stress fun and competitive. Let's keep it that way and in that order.
Things to remember:
Prospect Road Community Center is a family friendly facility and as such we expect all of you to conduct yourself accordingly. So watch your language and your activities.
No tape is allowed on the bottom of your blade. This is a facility rule
Windmill rule is not longer a penalty. It will however result in ball possession being given to the opposing team. This goes for any "highstick" infraction that does not make contact with the ball or a player. The goal is still t keep sticks down
Play hard but be in control. Of yours stick, of your body and of your temper. We are going to be tougher on calls this season so be aware of this.
If players are battling for a ball along the wall or in the corners and the ball is not moving into play, the refs will blow the play down and on their judgement, award possession to the team they feel was not impeding play. This is to minimize banging and digging that could lead to injury or escalation.
We are all out here to have fun. This is meant to be an avenue where you can come and get a decent workout, hang out with some folks and maybe win a game or two. No one is getting called up based on their tenacity or hard nosed play. Let's try and keep things fun and above all else, respect the guys you are playing against, playing with and the volunteers who are trying to keep the games running smoothly and fairly.
