A Royal Pain

March 3, 2000
What was intended as an night of light exercise, turned into an injuried riddled evening for the ADCFHL. Most notable of all injuries was that of 6th all-time leading scorer Kenzie Royal. Royal, who has a history of ankle problems, severely twisted his ankle early in the third period of last night's exhibition game. Royal was headed to the hospital for further analysis and his current condition was not immediately available at press time.

If this is indeed an injury which is going to cut into Royal's season, it may cost him his position on the Lite-Sabres. With teams not picked yet, Lite-Sabre captain Richard MacMillan may choose to protect two heathier players.

Earlier in the evening, Royal's Lite-Sabre teammate John Gaudet also rolled his ankle, but was able to finish the game. League rookie Odin Ortiz was another casualty. Ortiz suffered a severe contusion on his forearm, caused by an errant stick.
