Billy Concarney is back....

September 27, 2010

Hi everyone, this is Billy Concarney reporting. Well here we go folks, the sticks are banging, some heads are hanging and I can't think of another rhyming word that fits! Here's a brief recap of last weeks games...

Slayers 15 Sabres 9 Mike Cogdon has been training overthe summer and it shows. He shot out of the gates with a 9 point performance last week while team captain Peter "The Heater" Eddy scored 6 goals. At one point, Eddy had scored 5 straight, a couple of which were unassisted. When I aske Peter about his scoring he said "I bought one of those nets at Canadian Tire, you know the one with the foam targets. It has helped me with my scoring. I even can knock the targets right out of the net...how many guys can do that...with a whiffle ball! Oh, and the other change I made was, I'm never passing again." Meanwhile, forget Cowie...let's talk Howie!!! Darren who? Power forward Darren Howie scored 4 goalsas well. I wasn't there, but the ball must have gone off him and in the net a bunch of times, because ...I guess I better not go there. Great job Darren!

Chill 5  Fire  2  The big story here was the absence of goalies Harvey Snelgrove and Martin Kane. The even bigger story was the play of Chill fill-in Mike McInnis. He posted a .959 save percentage and stopped 47 of 49 shots. Meanwhile Jason Boudreau faced 61 shots and  you do the math. There are rumblings amongst the Chill owners that veteran (another word for old and fat) goalie Kane may have to play out a bit this year, or at least go on the road more often...

Hackers 7 Bulldogs 3  So Mombo got a haircut, but some guys are sayng he might be suffering from the "Samson" effect as he seemed to have lost some offensive prowess. The big story here was that Richard Wanamaker scored a goal. Seriously, he did! No, I'm not joking...look at the score sheet.

Lynx 8  Titan 5  Lynx captain Matt "The Punk" Monk went a different route this year and so far it has proven to be a good decision. "Last year I picked the old fat guy first and it left me in a bad spot the rst of the season. This year I decided to pick more offence and so far it has paid off". The guy heading the charge for the Lynx in this one was Matt Clarke who racked up 5 points.

Well that's it for now, but remember...the sun is shining somewhere and that means it's dark somewhere else...so the question becomes "Are you standing in the sunshine or are you standing in the dark?" Things that make you go hmmmmmmm....

This is Billy Concarney saying so long from here!
