The late game pitted two much improved teams against each other when the 1-1 Sunnydale Slayers faced-off against the 1-1 Keane Fire. Unfortunately for the Slayers however, two of their star players, Tim Farrell and Mark MacIssac, were called up by the injury-riddled St. F.X. floor hockey team to fill a couple of vacant roster spots. With Farrell and MacIsaac missing, the Fire managed to edge the Slayers 13-9 to take sole possession of second place in the league. It was a tie game 7-7 after two periods, but Fire superstars Kevin Haddad and Perry Gillam took control in the third - with each scoring 2 of their 5 goals.

In seasons past, one might argue that the best rivalry in the short history of the AdcFhl has been between the LAN Hackers and the Lite-Sabres. Historically these two teams have been the powerhouses of the league. However, entering their first meeting of the 2000A season, it appeared on paper that these two teams were headed in opposite directions. The LAN Hackers had cruised past their first two opponents of the season in typical Hacker style, while the Sabres had struggled while losing their first two matches. With the highly anticipated return to the line-up for Sabres' scoring sensation Steve Chaisson, insiders knew that this would be no walkover. In fact, this back-and-forth affair was so even that it fittingly ended in a 6-6 stalemate, the second tie in league history. Peter Rinco led the Sabres with 4 goals and 1 assist while John Price led the Hackers with 3 goals and 2 assists. One week after shattering the single-game goal scoring record (11) in his first game, Hackers rookie Chris Doodey was held completely scoreless.
