The Way It Should be.... Semi-finals week

May 4, 2011
Hello everyone and glad to have you with us. What with all the news that happened this week, it was nice to get back to some normalcy and play some hockey. Here is the semi final recap.

Will and Kate...The Royal wedding

Titans 8   Fire   5

Unlike the quarterfinals, this was no Joyal wedding...pardon the pun. Pierre "Karma" joyal used up all of his magic in the game leading up to the semis and just didn't have the same game as he did against the Slayers.
The Titans were never really in jeopardy of loosing this one. They took the lead in the first and just out played the Fire in  the second. Pierre let a few questionable goals in, but he also made some big time stops on Roger "The Invisible Ninja" Keating.
Jeff "My Arms Are Some Big" Shute picked up three goals and Big Dave Harnett blasted a couple from the point to end the second period. The thirds was all Fire as they popped 3 goals on Chris McKinnon, who came up with some big saves as well to keep his team in the lead.
As I said, no surprises here.

Chill blast the Sabres

Chill 12  Sabres  9

So this was not what the Sabres had hoped for, but still ended up as many thought it would. The Chill offense was just too much and Sabres goalie Marty "Candy" Kane did not have his "A" game going. Not to say he let any softies in, but he didn't make any big time saves either. The Chill were too fast and always had a guy open in the slot and they just made it count when they had the chance.
That being said, the Sabres put up a great fight and had they made their quota at the shot count, might have had a chance to win. The Sabres did manage to score 9 goals on 20 shots, pretty good numbers no matter how the outcome was.
This was as it should have been.

So there it is folks. The finals will see the two best records in the regular season meeting in the final game to see who will take home the cup for the 2011A season. it should prove to be a great game.
The edge in offense definitely goes to the Chill. It is obvious that the Titans are aware of this as they have selected the small floor, something that has not been seen for a long time. The Titans hold the big advantage in the back filed. With Big dave on "D" and Chris McKinnon holding the fort in nets, the Chill will not have as easy a time getting to the middle to get the free shots.
My call is ...not allowed as who knows what roll a fellow might have in the big game.

So there you have it folks, Titans and The Chill next week at 8:30 on the small floor. Bring your banners, bring your signs. Cheer for your team and then stick around for some pick up on the great big floor.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, it might not be over til the fat lady sings, but by golly it sure seems that way sometimes doesn't it!

Be well
