Fire Heating Up! March 19th Recap

March 21, 2012
Good day, good day and what a smokin' hot one we have this afternoon...but not near as hot as the play at the Stadplex this past monday night!
I'm Billy Concarney and this is another edition of The Day after the morning after, which for those of you who can't figure that out, means i am late putting this all up, but guess what? Too bad!
So here goes nothin'!

Slayers are Offensive!!

Slayers 16  Lynx 5

There was a movie back a bit ago called Fast and furious, well that could have been used to describe the guys from the Slayers this night. They just were relentless and man it showed. Rookie Of the Year candidate Shawn "Dave and Bob" MacKenzie had a natural hat trick to start it off and he finished the game with a total of 10 points, 7 goal and three helpers to lead his team to the win.
Blair "Rockin' Chair" hammond was faced with a barrage of shots facing 64 and he did as well as could be expected under the circumstances making more than one great save in this game. The Lynx missed their "big three" in Keating, Beidler and Milligan, or the three stooges as their team-mates fondly named them. Rumor had it that once Keating found out he was playing Kane, he got sick. Now we aren't sure if that had anything to do with Kane's act of kindness when he brought supper to Keating, but it seems a bit suspect don't you think???
Kane let a few soft goals in during this game, which prompted one ref to say "i guess Kane's belly isn't the only thing that is soft about his game"

No Joyal In This One

Titans  11  Sabres  4

The Titans notched a second win this season by beating the Sabres, also known as "The Ball Star Boys". Sabres goalie Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau quickly felt the wrath of an unhappy crowd as cherrs of Boom Boom quickly turned to jeers of "BUM BUM" because of some early soft goals. Boudreau said he faced screens the whole night and thus you can't stop what you can't see. At the other end, the Sabres had some help when they picked up Kane on loan from the Slayers. He didn't face too many shots though but still made a difference in this one.

This Cold Stretch Keeps hanging Around

Chill   9   Bulldogs   5

The Bulldogs were still looking for their first win of the season as the headed into this match and as they left...they were still looking for it.
The Chill continued their dominant ways as they beat the Dogs sensless by coming from behind outscore their opponents 9 to three in the last two period. the Dogs are still without their first round draft Neil "Banana Peel" Cameron who has slipped his way into the hearts of amny a goal keeper in this league, Don't ask me what that means because i don't know, It is all a bunch of stupid giberish and that's a fact jack!

Fire Starting To Spread

Fire 9   Hackers 4

And no, I don't mean "that" way. The Fire have won their second game of the year by getting great performances by goalie Chris "Big C" MacKinnon and Rob "The Rhino" Tyrrell. Both guys turned in their best game of the year with Tyrrell giving a worthy MVP performance by making all those around him better. The league is still on the look out for a new player for these guys and maybe even two, but after tonights game Tyrrell may not want to pick anyone up. the Hackers were Cooper less and that showed as they had a hard time staying with the Fire. Doug Forrest was a wee bit concerned by how fast the Fire were running. "Can they do that?" was what one guy heard. Let's not forget to mention Kevin "I'm Bad" Haddad, who looked like a youngin' out there running and gunnin' and takin' no names! The young goalie Burgoyne was recovering from a bender that took place three days earlier...and he's just a kid! management was not too pleased with that and will be sending out a set of guidelines to the players later this week explaining what proper conduct will be from now on on the weekends. We got in touch with Dave Cooper and asked bout this. "yea, we aren't too pleased that the guy wouldn't even invite us out you know. If you are going to have that kind of fun, better include the gang right, not that we are a gang...well i sort of look like it when i put my hat on backwards and have my pants on da ground and wear my big gold chain with the clock on the end of it, but that only happens once in a while iee!"

So there it is folks, Dave Cooper is all dat!
On a more serious note, we want to say good bye to long time vet "D" man Dave "the Save" Blandford who went to home to be with God...in Newfoundland that is! Heck, he is probably kissing the cod right now...ok well maybe not but he could be right!? Thanks for your big years and all the fun times. Hope all goes well for you there dude.

So that's how it looked from my eyes this past week. This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, some people are like slinkies...not good for much of anything but you can't help but smile when they tumble down the stairs!

Be well folks!
