It's A Goalie's Game Boys!!! Week 6 Recap

March 5, 2014
Hey Ho everyone and welcome to week 6 recap. My name is Billy Concarney and I am about to fill you in on the movers and shakers from week 6.
So let's get ready to REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDD!

A Real Hockey Score!

Titans 4  Bulldogs 2

So for once this season we have a real hockey score going up here folks. The Titans and Bulldogs squared off in a battle this week at the Big Floor Arena. It was as close as it will get this year as things were all tied up after the first at 2 all. Both goalies put on a show as Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne turned in his best performance of his career here in the HFHL. He had a shut out once...but it wasn't like this game. He stood on his head and spit wooden nickels. Meanwhile, Nick "Oscar" Myers was seen selling wooden nickels in the parking lot after the game.

Hackers chop their way through the Chill

Hackers 7  Chill 4

This game was another good fought battle between the league leading Hackers and the second place...soon to be third place Chill. The chill held in tough until late in the second when the Hackers offence took over and tallied 5 goals in the final two periods.
Thus far, Darren "Da Bear" Smith has been the only goalie to keep the Hackers under 8 goals. At the other end Mike "Baby Face" Degrace faced his toughest game this year turning aside 36 of 40 shots in a great performance. Hats off to the Chill for slowing down this juggernaut!

Where's Larry??!!!

Lynx 11  Sabres  6

So the word on the street is Larry Harris boycotted this game due to the leagues inability to crown him ESM Player Of The Week last week. Larry had the game of his life last week and was edged for the honour due to the self calculation of the mysterious website gnome...
Biut back to the game. With Chris "The Fish" McKinnon running the roads in the US, the Sabres had a shot to take this one. Both teams have pretty even talent, but the edge went to the Lynx in this one. Largely due to the play of the teams back end Matt "The Punk" Monk, Roy "The Toy" Monk and Tom "The Griffin" Griffiths.
Trevor Swain played a great game but not good enough as his boys fell short.

Hot Hot Hot

Fire 9  Slayer 2

So the Fire took a beating two weeks ago and the writers association were not sure how they would bounce back but they did. Never missed a step to be truthful. The Fire took control of this one from the get go, backed by Marty "The Party" Kane and some good goaltending, they just proved to be too much for the "Rookie" Squad.
Kane face 42 shots as did Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau but the Latter did not fair to well. It wasn't Jason's usual stellar game but with only two goals on the board for the Slayers, he didn't get much of a chance to win.
We spoke to Slayers Captain Johann "The 6'5" Giant" Tienhaara about the game.
"Yea, well I gambled at the beginning of the year. Thought I would take a page from the Oiler's play book and go with Rookie Blood. Well that was a mistake...chickens...chickens with no heads...running all around...all over the place! I think I am going to have to speak to ownership and see what the next move is. We have a week left to make some trades...so I will be testing the waters. Hey, any chance you have change for a wooden nickel?"

So this is the last week for trades. After the start of week 7, the trade windows shut for the season...BUT WAIT!!!
WE Have some breaking news just in!
Long time iron man Richie "The Comb" Wanamaker has just announced that he has to take the rest of the season off due to an upper eyebrow injury! So in his place, The Slayers are getting Shane "The Pain" Erb. A move that could strengthen the club....
HOLD IT RIGHT THERE...This just in! The Fire have just held a news conference to announce the trade of Jarret "The Ferret" Erb to the Slayers for Adam "Run One Way" Jarvis! This means that the Slayers have gone from a team of rookies to a new team of rookies!! The Erb Brother will add some flavour to the Slayers while the Fire just got a whole lot faster!
Stay tuned for future trades as the week unfolds.

I am Billy Concarney saying so long and remember... sticks and stones may break your bones but composite sticks are illegal!! LARRY
Oh yea...I almost forgot. The most important announcement of all!
The Eastside Mario's Player of the week is Craig "The Gargoyle" Burgoyne!
Way to go Craig...and FYI folks, the three stars for this week were all G-O-A-L-I-E-S
Muwahaha!!!

be well folks
