Over Halfway there! Week 6 recap

November 29, 2022
Well howdy pardners! This is Billy Concarney here, feeling a tad bit under the weather, so nothing too elaborate here tonight.

Hackers vs Sabres

This one was pretty close starting out. The Hackers were outshot 20-14 in the first but thanks to Bob Strum, they were able to take a 3-2 lead into the second. The Sabres evened it up early in the second but the Hackers, led by captain Joe Murphy, score three more to pull away and it was 6-3 after the second. The third period belonged to Tommy Zivanovic and the Hackers. Tommy grabbed a hat trick that helped his Hackers add four more to their total. The Sabres added three in the period but being under manned and overwhelmed, they lost this one by a score of 10-6.

Chill vs Fire

The Fire have been just that on fire, as of late. Led by Stephen Combdon, who recorded two goals and three helpers and has a total of 12 pts in his last two games. The Chill have been cool as of late. Captain Rylan Smith has provided a physical presence coming back after injury but they can’t get the bodies out. The Fire out scored the Chill 3-2 in the first and that’s largely because they also outshot them by a tally of 21-14. The second was all Fire as they added 4 more to their total and took a commanding 7-2 lead into the third. Larder once again faced a barrage of shots. The third saw the Chill score the first goal of the period, but the Fire answered back with two quick goals and both teams traded one more each. Chill got dominated in this one and lose to the Fire by a score of 10-4

Slayers vs Lynx

The Lynx had their captain Rickie Miller as a game time scratch. The Soayers were without the newly acquired Chris Inness, who was reportedly sent to a secluded dry rib training facility somewhere in remote Mexico.
Lynx open up with the first two goals, but the Slayers answered back with four quick ones and after the first it was 4-2 Slayers. Jordan Castilloux had a hat trick aux naturel in the first period.
The Lynx tied it up grabbing the first two goals of the period, but the Slayers fired back with two more giving them back the lead. Lynx power forward, Justin McKinnon notched his third of the game to stay within one bit Scott Henryof the Slayers gave his team the two goal lead with his second of the game to close out the second.
The third saw the teams battle as Matt Strum scored to give his team a three goal lead. The Lynx answered with two to get within one, but Jordan Castilloux picked up his fourth of the game to gain the two goal lead back. The Lynx scored a power play marker after Jordan Castilloux picked up a tripping penalty. The Lynx pulled the goalie and applied some pressure trying to tie things up, but were unable to beat Boudreau who gave his team the win. 9-8 Slayers and special congrats to Jason Boudreau who is this weeks player of the week.
Worth while noting that all three stars this week were goalies. Way to go guys!

Well that’s how she be this week.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and have a great week folks!
