Week One short stories

Well hello one and all, big and tall, short and small. This is the HFHL resident reporter extraordinaire Billy Concarney here. I’m taking the short way around this week as illness has dominated my headlines and I’m just getting enough gumption to lift a pen!

Well, there was one winner this week and that was the Sabres. Newbie captain Jonathan Hunson’s rag tag gang came out on top in a battle with Joe Murphy’s Hackers by a score of 10-6. Great start for the Blades!

The Lynx and the Slayers squared off and fought to an 8-8 tie. Both teams looked strong as did the goalies. A late game mishap made all the difference. Can anyone say Steve Smith?

Fire and the Chill took it to a 10-10 tie. Everything was all set until someone told Alex Gale he only had a backhand…2 goals and an assist in the last minute later…we got a tie. Which brings us to this weeks player of the week.

The league has been fortunate enough to partner with Knapper, the worlds biggest ball hockey supplier, to creat the Knapper Player of the Week. Week ones honours belong to Fire Captain Alex Gale. For his efforts he will receive a Knapper ball hat and a nice Knapper water bottle. Way to go Alex!

You can check out Knappers full line up of products by clicking on their logo in the Three Star section.

Well that’s all you’re getting this week boys and girls.

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember…oops, I forgot!

Be well folks!
