But you wouldn’t know by the way things played out!
No big write ups about the games, but here goes the short version!
Slayers vs Chill
Thanks to Adam Larder for jumping in and playing for an absent Craig Burgoyne.
The Chill had a short bench again playing with only 4 guys. The Slayers weren’t much better with only 5.
It was a bunch of shots, some saves, some not, but in the end these guys battled to a 7-7 tie.
This may have been Marty Kane’s last regular season game in the league…but who knows what lurks around the corners…
Fire vs Hackers
Well this was a bit intense. Nothing on the line, but you wouldn’t know. There were some great saves, some “excitement “ and when the whistle went the Fire grabbed this one 8-5. A nice win heading into the playoffs.
Sabres vs Lynx
The Lynx were short handed with a noticeable Rylan Smith’s absence due to a shoulder injury that will see him miss the remainder of the season. A big loss, but they also welcomed Gerard “Woody” Gouthro to the team in place of an injured Anil Snook.
The Lynx were what we thought they were…and after trading goals here and there, when it was all done, they had pulled off the 11-9 win.
So the stats are in and this is what we got…
1) Hackers vs 6) Chill
2) Slayers vs 5) Fire
3) Lynx vs 4) Sabres
Times to come.
Also, congrats to Joe Murphy for capturing this seasons top scoring title. Joe scored 40 goals and added 22 helpers to average 6.2 pts a game. Not to shabby for a young fella. Way to go Joe.
On the goaltending side of things, Craig Burgoyne was not able to make it to the last game, so the league thought it fair that we give top goalie to the next guy on the list…I’m kidding! Craig posted a .816 save % to lead the pack. Great job Craig. And this was done playing on the last place team. Way to go Craig
As the league leaders, both Joe and Craig will have their league fees waived for the next season. That’s a decent value for sure.
So that’s what we have after the regular season. We will see what the playoffs bring.
The 3 winners advance after the first rd and the team with the best first rd plus/minus will advance so if you lose, lose small!
Stay tuned for some more on the playoffs.
Yours truly…
