And then there was one! week 6 recap

March 17, 2016
Well hello there! Glad you could make it. now pull up a chair by the fire and I will tell you a story or two about what went down the night of March 14th, 2016...
Oh, by the way my name is Billy Concarney and here is a hot bowl full of Chilli Concarney!
So lets get started shall we!

Cooling Their Heels
Chill vs Lynx

So this is a story about a rather cool bunch of fellows called the Chill. One might think because the vast majority come from Dartmouth that they are cool...but if you take a close look most of them have heads shaped like ice cubes.
On the other end we have the Lynx. They tend to be a shy animal and this bodes well for this team as they rarely show up at the party. well, tonight would be no different.
The Chill dominated this game riding the stellar goal tending of new comer Dan "The Man" Nauss who turned in his best performance of the year. It also helps when your big guns produce and the Chill were firing on all cylinders. Power forward J.D. "KD" Darnborough picked up what he likes to call a "double Hatty" scoring 6 goals. Kevin "Did you see that pass" Shute was close on his heels with his best game of the year scoring 2 goals and adding 3 helpers. the Lynx captain James Griffith-Allwood the 3rd esquire, scored two goals in a losing effort. The Chill were just way tooooooo cool for the Lynx. Must have been that old Northbrook swagga' ;-)
Chill take this one 11-5

And Then There Was One
Hackers vs Slayers

So it might not be a good thing when the team captain and the goalie from the Slayers are betting milkshakes on whether the score will be 8-3 or 5-3. The Hackers were missing the Ninja and Baby Face Keating boys. The Slayers were missing
Mark Duggan, Matt Seto, Paul Casey and at least one other defensemen and a goalie...or at least they never showed up.
Undermanned and under pressure, three quick penalties by Doug "The Pug" Forrest saw the Slayers down to 4 players. One who ran around in circles saying sorry, one who said "I can't run any more". One who said "you suck" and two good players up front. Yea, you guessed it, this didn't go well.
the Hackers had their hands full up until the second. That's when that guy from the Codroy Valley decided to take matters into his own hand and open up the second period flood gates. Alex Gale tacked on 3 more gaols to his league stats in this one and led the Hackers to an 8-3 shellacking. This was expected by at least one guy...oh, by the way thanks for the milks shake Johann!
Hackers remain the only undefeated team left this season. Can anyone beat these guys?

Looking for our first win
Sabres vs Bulldogs

Well the Sabres were still looking for their first win. So these guys were hungry. Jason "Boom Boom" Boudreau showed top for his second game of the season...yes that's right...he played! Good to see you back bro!
So from the get go this looked like it would be close, with the teams tied at 2 all by the end of the first. But this really was a night the Sabres would not be denied. Backed by superb goaltending by league great Chirs "The Big C' McKinnon who had arguably his best game of the season, the Sabres tallied 7 goals in this one, while the Bulldogs lacked some bite but not from lack of effort, as they fired 43 shots at MacKinnon but could only beat him 4 times.
Big guns in this game were Evan "Pretty Boy" Canning who picked up 4 goals for the Sabres and Trevor "The Lawman" McGuigan who scored 2 goals and added 2 helpers for the Dogs.
Worthwhile to note that someone names McGuigan was responsible for 9 points in this game.
Sabres get their first win of the season by a score of 7-4. Congrats guys...and gal!

Were have all the Titans gone?
Fire vs Titans

Ok, so this was a first. We had a team show up with 2 players. Not a good thing to see and it leaves us asking where have the Titans gone? Last game they only had 4 players. Pretty poor showing and the league has launched an investigation into their disappearance. We will keep you posted on what we find...I hope they didn't hit an ice berg. That never ends well...Oh, different name right!
By the game sheet I cannot even tell who the Titans picked up. I know one was Cory McGuigan...and the goalie was Jason Boob Boom Boudreau...but no idea who was the last guy.
This was a lopsided affair, but surprisingly not as bad as one might have thought.
The Fire were led by Shane "The Cultivator" Erb, who scored a hat trick as did Sean "Brother of Dave" Fitzgerald who tallied three of his own...oh and let's not forget the league's all time scoring great Rob "The Rhino" Tyrrell who grabbed a goal and ...is this a typo? 4 assists? Hmmm...I guess that is something else the league will be investigating...
Fire roast the short listed Titans 9-4....
Ouch!

So there you have it folks. This weeks Eastside Mario's Player of the Week is none other then the KD Kid....Jonathan Darnbrough! Way to go JD!

We will see you all this coming Monday when you might hear Lynx goalie Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne break out into his own rendition of "No Body Knows The Troubles I've Seen"...

Just a quick note. There are lots of things going on in the world and our lives that are not so great. We all have daily struggles. We want this league to be a great place for guys and girls to have some fun and get a decent work out. There is never anything wrong with playing hard, but stay clean out there folks. And if someone is playing hard against you, it doesn't mean you have to pick it up ten notches. That usually makes things worse not better. So respect one another and have some fun people. We like who we have playing this season....yes and even you Relic! (email me if you know who you are)
Be well folks and remember...Auto Correct can be trouble...

A guy send a text to his neighbour

He stan. I have been meaning to talk to you about something that has been mothering me for a while now. I have a confession to make.
For some time I have been sharing your wife. Almost everyday now for a few months. I had not been getting any here at home so I took advantage for your absence and so here I am, feeling so sorry for that. Heck I think I have been enjoying it more than you have these days. Anyhow, please forgive me. I will stop and if you can figure out what a reasonable price might be for using that service, I will gladly pay the fee.

Stan's Reaction

he immediately grabs his gun and goes next door. Shoots his neighbour dead when he answers the door and then comes home to wait for his wife to return. He grabs a drink and sits down on the couch. He looks at his cell phone and sees while he was gone he has received another text...from his neighbour

Hey Stan, By now I am sure you figured this out, kind of funny really. That stupid auto correct on my not so smart smart phone changed the word wi-fi to wife, Oh that was funny...get me that price neighbour!

Se what can happen when we jump the gun!
See you all on the court

(borrowed from someone somewhere)

This is Billy saying be well folks and love your neighbour. Or at least their wi-fi!
