Here She Be! Week 6 recap

October 25, 2016
Well hello there boys and girls! Long time no talk eh?
well I am back and here is your week 6 recap.

First game we will look at is between the Sabres and the Chill. The two last place teams fighting it out and who knows what would happen...the only thing you can be sure of is that a McGuigan would get on the score sheet!
This was a tight game from the get go.
Craig "the Gargoyle" Burgoyne was outstanding as he made save after save facing 54 shots. He definitely kept the swords in this game. At the other end, Kane turned in a great performance backed by a well organized Chill team that was full benched and played their best game of the season by far.
After the first the Chill led 1-0. The second started with the Sabres evening it up when Mike Gelinas knocked a ball out of the air into the net. Great hands Mike! but Larry "The Northbrook Kid" Harris ripped a slapper past Burgoyne off a feed from Chad "I'm Bad" Banks. But the Sabres weren't quitting, Cory Mcguigan picked the low blocker side corner on Kane as he cut across the point and shoot opposite side. It was a sweet goal for Cory and it evened things up. But before the period was over, new guy Tony "The Pony" Cassela grabbed his first goal banking it off the post to give the Chill a 3-2 lead after two.
The third period was pretty stingy and the only goal given up was Mark Mcguigan's nifty move coming out of the corner to pick the only spot open. This sealed the deal and the Chill grabbed their first win  of the season.
The Sabres in the meantime need to go back and maybe work on a trade deal to shake things up.
Chill win 4-2

Next up is the Bulldogs vs the Fire. Both teams coming off of big wins last week. The Dogs had humiliated the Chill while the Fire showed they were a real contender by knocking of the Hackers in a close game.
this one was pretty stingy as well. Both goalies played great games especially MacKinnon who all but shut the door on the Dogs. The game started with the Fire scoring the first two goals quick, but the Dogs grabbed the next two and it wasn't until the third that the Fire pulled away scoring 3 unanswered gaols to solidify the win.
Notables were Alex Gale who tallied 3 goals and Fire goalie Chris "The Big C" MacKinnon who turned aside 36 of 38 shots.
Fire take this one 5-2

Our third game of the night was between the mighty Titans and the streaking Slayers...not naked streaking...but like winning games streaking...oh never mind.
The Slayers were in tight as they were missing the General of the team Johann "The Butcher" Tienhaara as well as Shanti " The Dog" Dogra, so right off the hop they were short benched. but a short bench was the least of their worries this night.
The Titans brought their  big guns tonight and led by new guy Gordon Caines and league veteran Scott Cross, were too much for the Slayers. Caines and cross combined for a total of 13 pts with 4 goals a piece and Caines adding 3 assists while Cross had an unprecedented 2 assists of his own.
The Bright spot for the Slayers was Evan Canning who grabbed a natural hat trick scoring the Slayers first three goals. Problem was that without Johann's stellar defence and offensive prowess, they just couldn't get it rolling. Worth while to note that the Titans welcomed goalie Mike DeGrace back after a few weeks absence due to a "lower body injury". Welcome back Mikey!
Titans take this one 9-7

The last game of the night belonged to the Hackers and the Lynx. The Hackers were coming off their first loss of the season while the Lynx have had a better season then last year and had showed signs of potential.
The game started with the Lynx drawing first blood when Bryce "Baby Face" Keating picked the top corner off a feed from team captain James Griffith-Allwood and Some Plastic. Then Visser and Clarke added a goal each and this looked like the Lynx might deal some more damage...er...not.
Enter Sean "The One" Fitzgerald...who grabbed his first of 5 goals on the night. Throw in a hat trick from Dave Cooper and with a spattering of Eisener and you have a recipes for a come back and a 9-7 victory.
That being said the there were bright spots for the Lynx as Matt Clarke collected a hat trick and James Griffith Alwood and some Plastic had a goal and 3 assists. But not enough to get a win, but just enough to keep things respectable.
Hackers get back their winning ways taking this one by a score of 9-7
