Ryan Milligan Strikes Again! week three recap

February 8, 2017
Well howdy ho neighbour!
This is Billy Concarney reporting your HFHL news for week three.
First game up...

Slayers Vs Hackers

The Slayers were looking to notch a win while the Hackers were looking to stop a slide.
The Slayers came out quickly scoring 2 goals off of two giveaways but the Hackers answered back with two of their own.
But the Slayers led by JD grabbed three more while the Hackers D watched from afar. Score is 5-2 after the 1st.

The Second saw the Hackers come out with a bounce in their step as the grabbed two gaols and came within one, but once again some standing around led to the Slayers picking up three in a row and adding one more late in the second and they were on their way to a victory at the expense of a lacklustre effort by the Hackers D.
the third again saw the Hackers grab the first two goals, but the Slayers just kept coming and when it was all said and done, the Slayers ran circles around the Hackers D and walked away with a 12-7 victory. Cooper has some decisions to make regarding his back end. Could we see some movement on the goaltending front or maybe a shale up in the defensive core, or maybe both?
Who knows...but what we do know is Ryan Milligan lit Kane up for two goals! Shhhhhhhhhh

Bulldogs vs Sabres

the Sabres have been a beast so far while the Bulldogs have seen some shiny moments and some pretty dark moments. One such moment was when the game started by Johann Tienhaara giving Roger Keating a clear cut break away to start the scoring. And score they did. The Sabres grabbed 4 goals in the 1st and then the first two of the 2nd and actually outscored the voteless Dogs by a score of 9-1 after two. Bulldogs goalie Paul Highmore could be heard singing "No body knows the trouble I've seen" as he was left hung out to dry time and time and well...time again.
the Dogs did have a bite spot in the 3rd led by team captain Adam Secord who grabbed two goals.
But this was a wash from the get go. The sabres improve to 3-0 and well the Bulldogs have some sole searching to do...because someone stole Tienhaara's sneakers. Good luck with that Johann!
Sabres slaughter the Dogs 10-4

Chill vs Lynx

This one saw the Chill and the Lynx trade two goals in the beginning of the first, but the Chill powered through to grab two more to close out the period and walked away with a 4-2 lead after 1.
The two traded goals once again in the second and the Chill maintained a 2 goals lead headed into the third.
The 3rd saw the Chill dominate as they grabbed three more goals to the Lynx one and when the music stopped, the score was 9-5 for the Chill.
This has to have the Lynx thinking trade as they are not keeping up with the pack. The Chill on the other hand looked great and showed that they may be a contender as this young season takes shape.

Fire vs Titans

This game closed out the night and was a real Fire fest...literally!
The titans started the scoring grabbing the first goal of the period but the fire grabbed the next two and another late in the period and the score was 3-2 after the 1st.
the teams traded goals in the second but the fire pulled away notching a total of 3 goals to the titans 2. Score is 6-4 after the second.
The third saw the Fire heat it up as they burned the titans 5 times in the period to the Titans 3 goals.
This could be considered an upset in some circles, but The Fire's reliance on rookies and great tending by Zwicker have meant that they are a team to beat this season as they start it off 3and 0.

Worthy notables were Roger Keating scoring his 400th goal...way to go roger.
Also this week's Eastside Mario's player of the Week honors goes to Jason Boudreau... Congrats Jason!

So that is another abbreviated version of the news here at the HFHL.
Early favs are the fire and the Sabres.
the rest of the teams need to consider making some moves to get the right combinations and try and give their teams a better chance to win.
Trade talks may or may not be happening...but one thing for certain...no one is safe!

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and be well folks!
