The week after the trade...week 3 recap

September 26, 2017
hey everyone. This is Billy Concarney here saying too bad for you!
Quick as a flash will be this write up.

there was a trade this week between the Fire and the Bulldogs.
the Fire sent Mark Mcguigan, Kevin Hadda and Shane Erb over to the Bulldogs in exchange for Matt Reed, Norm Snook and Dave Martell.

First game of the night is the Titans vs the Fire.
Fire came out strong and new comers Matt Reed and dave Martell connected for the first goal of the night. Great start for these two guys.
Scott Cross answered back with a power play goal but Rob Tyrrell poked one home from Normy Snook to take the lead back. New guy Iain Arseneau grabbed a first period marker from Reed but Titans utility player Ryan Milligan scored late in the period from Trevor McGuigan to keep it close.
3-2 after the 1st.
Second saw Reed strike again and again from Davey Martell. These guys are earning their keep.
But the Titans grabbed the next goal when Tony Joyce ripped one home off a feed from Ryan Milligan. Normy Snook then added a marker from Arseneau to keep pace. But then everything fell apart.
the Titans grabbed the next 7 goals and that was all she wrote baby.
The new guys for the Fire combined for 7 points in a losing effort.
The Titans captain Scott Cross had three goals as did Tony Joyce as well as two helpers.
Titans win this game 10-5

Second game of the night saw the Hackers face off against the Bulldogs.

The Hackers drew blood first when captain Dave Cooper ripped one past Highmore, who was starting his first game off the season. Goods took a few from Shane Erb to even it up but the Hackers answered right back with Schrader notching a goal from Cooper.
Hackers lead 2-1 after the first.
Things get a bit blurry in the second as some faulty equipment led to the goal totals not quite adding up but lets go through things anyway.
Hackers start the second when Paul Chang scores from Tom Griffiths. Dave Cooper takes a quick shot and picks the corner from Greg Schrader and the Hackers have the lead 4-1.
But the Bulldogs storm back with Haddad scoring from Shane Erb, then Shane grabs a goal from Good Martell. 4-3 Hackers...
Tom Griffiths gets one from Greg Schrader and Shawn Goodwin finishes off the period with a blast from Good Caines. the score is 5-4 Hackers after two. Worth while to note the Hackers were told the score was 5-4 for the Bulldogs, which was an error by the score keepers equipment.

The third was dominated by the Bulldogs as they outscored the Hackers 4-1 and that was all she wrote. Hackers lose to the Dogs by a score of 8-6.
Dogs new guys had a total of 8 points. After the first week, on paper the Dogs win this trade. On the court, the Dogs look better having made the moves than the fire, but its one week right.
Congrats to Paul Highmore who made 50 saves to win this weeks Eastside Mario's player of the week award. Welcome back Paul!

Last game we will look at was between the Lynx and the Chill.
This was ugly folks. Tom Wynn kept his boys in the game while Kane left his guys out in the cold so to speak.
The Chill started the scoring when Louis Brill notched a marker early. But the Lynx answered back with 3 goals on 9 shots...ouch! The Chill stayed in it though  and closed out the period with two goals to tie fit up.
Score was 3-3 after the first.
The second saw things stingy. each team scored two and after the 2nd it was 5-5.
the thirds was even more stingy and each team fired 14 shots at the goalies. Unfortunately for the Chill with 10 seconds left a give away and a two on one, followed by a nice shot on Kane that he probably should have had. This one ended in broken hearts with the Lynx squeaking out a 6-5 win.
Notables were James Griffin-Allwood with 2 goals and a helper, Gill Momborquette with 2 goals and a helper and Louis Brill grabbing 2 goals.

So thats it. Short and sweet.
This is Billy Concarney saying so long and have a great rest of the week!

Be well people!
