The Hackers were led by scoring champion Shawn Currie's 11 goals, who incredibly ended the season just 5 goals short of the magical 100 mark. This will mark the first time in Hacker forward John Price's career that he will not win the scoring championship, despite notching career-best numbers. When Price was asked about his season's output, he quipped "I finally realized why I wasn't able to catch Shawn (Currie) in the scoring race. I have to pass it to him to get a point!" Price was able to fend off a challenge from teammate Steve Schumph to win the Assists title with 55.
For the Lynx this season, it was the best of times and it was the worst of times. At their best, the Lynx destroyed weaker opponents, by ungodly margins of victory. But when it came time for the Lynx to play the upper echelon teams in the league (Hackers, Sabres), the Lynx would play like the inexperienced team they truly are.
Lynx captain Chris Bleichert says that this season has been a real learning experience for his team and that they are ready to go all the way in the playoffs. "Now if anybody has the experience of being on a losing team, it's me. And based on my entire life's experience of losing, I can expertly say that this team is not a losing team."
