Ding ding…round one!

First of all Happy New Year. I hope you all had some great holidays.

Well, last night was the start of the real season so they say. Where dreams are dashed and tears are shed…ok, well maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but hey, gotta try right!

Let’s get at er’!

Chill vs Hackers

Chill needed to get a few bounces in this one, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.

The Hackers came out and scored three goals and took that lead into the second. Sam Haliburton notched his second giving a 4 goal lead to the Hacks before Anil kind of stopped the bleeding and it was 4-1 Hackers after the second.

Aiden Walsh scored a quick on in the 3rd and gave the Chill a weeeee bit Oh hope, but yea, not happening. Hackers closed the game out with 3 and when it was all said and done, they took the Chill out of the air 7-2

Craig Burgoyne played a solid game adding to his great season.

Slayers vs Fire

Well, the Slayers finished last but let’s not think that’s because they stunk. They actually have a very good team and the Fire had their hands full.

The Fire scored first when Logan Jeddry buried an Eric Gale pass but the lead didn’t last long. Eric took a penalty and Adam Mackenzie capitalized on pass from Spencer Foulkes. Joe Murphy took the lead back with a solo effort, but the Slayers kept coming and they were rewarded with two to end the period, both by Troy Winsor.

The second saw a steady stream of players going to the penalty box. As a result the Slayers grabbed two power play goals and an even strength, while the Fire tallied a short handed goal by Paul Chang and Tyrrell scored from Jeddry. When the second ended, the Slayers enjoyed a 6-4 lead.

The Fire came out hot in the third and scored two quick ones evening things up. The Slayers answered back and took the lead, but the Fire burned it up grabbing the final two goals and this gave them an 8-7 win. Great game all around.

So, with this all said and done…the semis look like this,

Monday January 13th

Lynx vs Hackers 7:00 PM

Slayers vs Fire 8:00PM

Both of these games will be awesome and I’m guessing goalies will play the biggest factors.

So that’s all she wrote for this week.

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and have a great week!
