Halifax Floor Hockey LeagueDraft Night - took place at East Side Mario's, Newfoundland, Dartmouth and The Kingswood area. With the help of our stellar technology and our head tech Rob "The Rhino" Tyrrell, all the captains where present for the big night.
The big news from the draft comes from a rather odd relationship formed by Johann "The Man" Tienhaar, who captains the Slayers and Adam "G Chord" Secord, who captains the Bull Dogs. In an unprecedented move, the two teams pulled off not one, but two block buster moves. First they traded for their first two picks. This enable the last pick Slayers to move up to the second pick and the Bull Dogs may have gained an advantage by taking tow players back to back for 8th and 9th pick. These moves might make or break both of these teams as they gambled on what they felt was a good move. Then later in the night, the Bull Dogs offered up rookie Adam Shcellenburg for stellar D Man Kelsey "Grammar" Shannon. This was a bold move as the guy who has the hardest name to spell in the league is touted as a big time player by all the scouts.
The season starts tomorrow night and we will see who has the upper hand. All of the captains walked away thinking that they had the winning combinations, but will some late draft decisions come back to haunt those captains who may have "waited too long"
Time will tell.
So fasten your seat belts and put on your goggles, this baby is going to move fast. Come on back in a day or two to see the post game reports and check out the stats. This is going to be one big bad season!
I'm Billy Concarney saying so long and remember, we have a Windmill Rule!!! :)
