Last Thursday night saw the end of an era in the brief history of the AdcFhl. Long-time Lite-Sabre and perennial all-star Peter Rinco, has decided to hang up his gym sneakers, calling it quits after three hugely successful seasons. Rinco leaves as holder of almost all Lite-Sabre franchise records, including most career goals, most career assists and most career points.

Team captain and Rinco's personal mentor Richard MacMillan reminisced, "I remember the doubts I had when picking young Petey. He was complaining about injuries, about vacation time, and about travelling with work. It was almost as though he didn't want to play for me. Thankfully that turned out not to be the case. I think."

Fellow three-year Lite-Sabre Rob McNeil had this to say about the departure of his confidant, "Maybe now that Peter "ball-hog" Rinco is leaving, some of the true stars on the Sabres can really strut their stuff - like me."

When reached at his summer getaway in Northern New Brunswick, ex-Lite-Sabre Bill Hanley recalled his favorite Rinco-moment, "I remember in the first year of the league, the Sabres were hot entering the playoffs. In fact we had just become the first team to beat the mighty Hackers in the last game of the regular season. So when we met the Hackers in the finals, many people were picking us to win the championship…and maybe we would have, if Fink-o, I mean Rinco would have brought his 'A-Game'. We lost the game miserably 14-4. Rinco was pathetic, in fact it was the only game in which he never recorded a point. It was also the same game that Rinco got his only penalty. If I had to pick one reason why I left the league after the first season, it would be because I couldn't stand Fink-o."

Although, Hanley chose to dwell on a lowlight in Rinco's illustrious career, there were highlights that teammates forgot to mention. Such as Rinco's debut, in which he tallied 5 assists - the sixth best total of all-time. And who could forget Rinco's final regular season game of the 1999B season, in which Rinco tallied a career high 11-points (6 goals and 5 assists).

Despite his obvious aptitude for scoring, Rinco may be remembered most for a fashion statement his made in the 1999B season.

So long Peter and good luck in Ottawa.
