Slayers take Championship

December 13, 2005
The Slayers completed a dream 2005B season by defeating a game ADC Lynx squad 7-3 to win the ADC FHL championship for the second time. Rookie sniper Gil Mombourquette led the way for the Slayers, tallying two goals and three assists. Doug Forrest also notched two markers while captain Gian Scalet, Donny Bailey and David Blandford scored singles.

Roger Keating, Shawn Currie, and Matt Wheeler scored the Lynx goals. But it was their goaltender Martin Kane who was the game's first star, stopping a whopping 58 saves in defeat. It broke his previous record of 53 saves in a final.

The three goals allowed by Slayers goaltender Pierre Joyle was the 10th time that a goalie has allowed three or fewer goals in a title game.

Slayers players Donny Bailey and Matt Monk acquired their third championship rings with the victory, making them the 13th and 14th players ever to amass that total.
