Hackers. Again!
Hackers. Again!
Good morning ladies and gents.
This is Billy Concarney here with the recap from last nights HFHL 2017A season championship game between the Hackers and the Bulldogs.
These two teams fought the good fight to get here and had one more battle to see who would be crowned champion.
Let's take a look at what went down.

Both teams were full roster tonight. The Hackers, led by the team captain Dave "super" Cooper had finished 4th in regular season play, while the Dogs finished 6th.
The Dogs had two hard fought battles to get here and were eying one more. the Hackers had pretty much owned everyone they had played thus far and were poised to continue their run for the cup.
The ball dropped to start the first and the Hackers took immediate control. They fired a total of 15 shots at Paul Highmore in the first but only managed to grab a two goal lead. The Bulldogs couldn't get out of the gate and only had 5 shots on Kane, who was seeking his 9th HFHL cup on 15 appearances. After the first, the Hackers were up two zip on a pair from Cooper.
The second saw the Hackers again firing 15 shots at Highmore but this time they could only muster one goal. At the other end Kane faced 11 shots but once again the Dogs came up empty.
The score after the 2nd was 3 zip Hackers.
Let's maven to the third. Now we know this is the HFHL and we also know that the dogs have a pretty good team as well.
Things can change very quickly. Could the Dogs fight back and make this a game?
Well the answer in short was no. The Hackers fired a total of 17 shots on Highmore and grabbed another 6 goals in the third. The Dogs tried to make a run and beat Kane twice but overtime they scored, the Hackers answered right back.
This game was a text book lesson from start to finish as the Hackers really played a flawless team game. they smothered the Bulldogs and blocked a ton of shots. They played like a championship team should play.
But lets not take anything away from the Bulldogs. they earned their way into the finals and Adam Secord can be proud of his squad and their season.
The player of the game and this weeks Eastside Mario's Player of the Week is Marty "The Party" Kane.
Other notables were Dave Cooper whop had 2 goals and 2 assists as well as rookie sensation Kyle Bayer who did the same.
On the Dogs end, Paul Highmore held his team in as long as could be expected and deserves honourable mention for sure.

So that's it folks! This years championship team is the Hackers! Congrats boys
