So this is like really really delayed, but here it is.
So this is the final recap of the 2016 A Season. We have come to the end of the road...and we can't let go...you belong to me, I belong to you...(Thanks Boyz 2 Men for that explosive melody)

Seriously folks, this is the tale of two teams. One team has had an easy road through the season, one paved with the fewest average of shots ever faced by a team during regular season play. One that saw total domination. It starts out close enough. Every game in memory ends the first period with the Hackers squeaking out a 2-1 lead. But then the second comes and they just have dominated that periods scoring like no other. This is when they would bury their opponents. Backed with key goaltending, it is safe to say that no one is going to win against these guys with an average of 2o something shirts per game, and that is what they faced. Up until now, no real diversity. Marty "The Party" Kane says that the magic number is 40 shots. But who is going to get that many on the net when you can't control the ball.
The other team is the Chill. Contrary to their name, these guys have been burning it up in the second half of the season. They never slowed down at all in the play offs either. Led by the Northbrook Duo, Larry "Super Nova" Harris and Rob "The Shipper" Pittman on the back end, and JD "The KD Kid" Darnborough and Keven "Bacon" Pittman on the front end. Then throw in a handful of supporting actors and you got a team baby! Chris MacKinnon picked these guys to win it all. Could they have a chance?

So this game was a formality in many minds. The Hackers were too strong up front. They had scored sooooo many goals this season and had three top their players who could hurt you many ways...but someone forgot to tell the Chill that they were cruising for a bruising. They showed up full of pee and vinegar and had no intention of laying down for no one.

So game time rolls around and we get ready for the ball drop. Some superstar comes out and sings a song and then the lights dim. Music starts...it's Europe's Final Count Down. Matty Monk is pulling an air guitar while Johann is lip-syncing the words...all four of them.
The smoke settles and here we are ready to drop the ball

Period one sees both teams playing it pretty cautious. The Hackers fire 16 shits at Dan "the Man" Nauss and he turns aside 14. At the other end, chinks in the armour start to show as the Chill manage to direct 15 shots at Wynn. That is over half of the shots he would face in many of his games this season. What do these guys have to show for it? Looked very very familiar as the Hackers lead by a score of 2-1.

Second period comes along. every one is waiting for the onslaught...but surprise surprise, JD nets the first goal of the period on a pass from "Super Nova" Harris...and guess what folks, these guys were in it for real! Roger "The Ninja" keating makes a nifty move and pokes it home to give the Hackers the lead once more. That has to be the bubble breaker right? WRONG...Enter Larry "Super Nova" Harris who brings that Northbrook Swagga and a big boom to boot. Harris rifles not one, but two back to back boomers past Wynn, who just couldn't catch up to these rockets.  And the period ends with a shocking result and the Chill have done the unbelievable...they have come out with a 4-3 lead after 2.

Ok, so this is just a blip. The Hackers were way too dominant during the regular season and just need one more win to be one of two teams to go undefeated from start to finish. Ball drops for the 3rd...Hackers take a couple of bad penalties. God down two men. Chill makes them pay scoring two power play goals to start the third. This is u believable folks. The Hackers are down by three quickly in the third. Dave "I'm Super" Cooper isn't quoting though. He grabs a goal on a pass from Gale and they are within striking distance. You can sense a new life on their bench. Could this be it? Nope. The Chill answer with two more goals and this one is all but over. Ninja Keating grabs two more goals but Pittman, adds one two and I can hear some fat lady somewhere warming up...no she's singing...she's actually singing and this folks could be one of the most epic moments in modern day history of the HFHL. The Chill have done what no one thought they could do...they had amassed 40 shots on Tom Wynn...and this Chris MacKinnons prediction has come true. The Chill are the 2016 A season champs!
Wow, what a game and what a finish to a great season!

We want to congratulate both teams for an awesome season and for playing a great game till the end.
The Chill rode the rookies sensational tending of Dan "the Man" Nauss who pulled it all together late in the season and gave his boys a chance to win. All you can ask for any keeper in this league. Way to go Dan. Dan also picks up this weeks Eastside Mario's Player of The Week donors for his performance in the championship game. Pretty nice showing for a guy with fancy dancing' shoes! ;-)

We want to thank Rod and his team at Eastside Mario's for their continued support. They have added a great touch to our already great league and we want everyone to support these guys big time! They deserve it! So get out and eat some food and drink some drinks boys and girls...and say a thank you while you're there!

I also want to thank Matt Monk, Johann Tienhaara, Gordo Martell and Rob Tyrrell for their continued efforts in making the clock tick. With out their help, I would not be able to run a league that is what I consider and many others as well, to be one of the best in the city. We may not be the biggest or baddest but we sure are a benchmark for fun. This season we welcomed a great female player into our rank in Jenna Briggs. She was an awesome addition to the league. We also retired dave LeBreton's red short which are now hanging from the rafters with something on them...not sure if it is a number or not, but it is something.

Also want to thank our team captains for stepping up again this season. Another big part of our league's smooth runnings.
Last but not least I want to thank the folks who stepped up to ref and time keep this season. They get some chirping from time to time and that's why they make the big...ahh, calls, yea that's the ticket big calls! Seriously, thank you all.

Thanks everyone for a great season. We are pretty blessed to have finished our 36th season here in the league. We have been running for 17 years ladies and gents. Let's try and get 17 more out of er shall we!

This is Billy Concarney saying so long and remember...nothing is impossible when you have some lousy refs in the championship game! Ouch that hurt!

Be well folks!
